I am a life-long artist who is just now discovering a love for my trade. I have struggled for some time with trying to maintain a passion for art, and just recently have discovered the problem. I've been focusing on the wrong type of art (for me). For years I've focused mostly on portraiture because I felt like it was the most economically safe avenue for an artist. The problem is that I never truly enjoyed it...it was draining. And as a result, I was not able to maintain a steady path.

 

Recently I discovered the realm of abstracts, and in working on my Abstract Acrylic paintings I also discovered a new methodology that I find works very well with my personality. It involves a mindset of non-attachment, and of non-control. Rather than racking my brain, trying to think of something really cool to paint, I just start painting with no preconceived idea of what the final product should look like. This has freed up my subconscious artist within to express himself and has made the entire process much more fun and rewarding.

 

I have now adopted this same attitude with my Digital Abstractions. As you will see there is a strong element of realism to these paintings (which used to hinder my progress), but at the same time they have an abstract aspect as well. This is because I don't hold myself to a rigid concept. If a particular part is just not forming naturally in the "world" of the painting, then I will just create a seperate reality for that part lol. It's fun, and it works.

 

Anyway, that's my art in a nutshell.
